Based on Function Follows Form (FFF) theory, I postulate that it is because the Crab nebula is the youngest nebula still in its infancy!!
The crab nebula is only about 1000 years old, because it is reported in Chinese and Arab Astronomy files in the year 1054!.
According to FFF theory, the former ejected (sun) starspot black holes of different sizes present in the exploding former star of the Crab nebula, are mixed up by the explosion, they start to meet each other pushed by plasma tails, just like ball lightning.
If they are of equal size they form stable Herbig haro systems.
If they have not the same size, a splitting process with gamma flares or bursts is the result. (see image below)

According to my FUNCTION FOLLOWS FORM (FFF) theory The origin of these forces has to be found in the uncovered SPLITTING AND PAIRING complexity of MICRO and MINI BLACK HOLES inside Nebula.
These mini black holes inside Nebula are supposed to be ejected from the original exploded star as SUCCESSORS of the original STELLAR SPOTS which are supposed to be the result of COMETS CRASHED INTO THE STAR.

In my opinion, the star itself is responsible for the production of Cometary nuclei or mini black holes, by magnetic stellar outbursts during its life. So not the Kuyper belts or Oort clouds are resposnible.

Is there other evidence for the Sunspot-Black hole-Gas-pillar relation?
Yes I believe so:
The Helix and Ring nebula show both lots of knotty elements which seem to produce gas trails at the opposite side of the exploding or evaporating star.
So we may suggest that the knotty black holes in this (infant) Helix nebula still did not have the chance to pair with other black holes or come to a black hole splitting process!. Perhaps the Helix nebula is too small for a Crab comparable mini black hole pairing and splitting process?
